Tom was also called Jessie, so it is belived that his name was Jessie Thomas or Thomas Jessie as they named their son, Jessie Junior.

Tom was said to have committed suicide. It has been stated that Tom worked a still and that once when he was a kid, he and Tom hid (in the corn patch) from some people who were searching and trashing Tom's house when they got there.

It is reported that Tom was shot in the back of the head with a shotgun; he didn't understand how that could have been suicide.
